Book recommendations for teenaged boys?

I am always trying to find out about books teenaged boys love to read. My two decided a few years ago that they don't like to read and this is so sad to me because they loved books when they were young and they are missing one of the most wonderful and important parts of life, imho. They did both read and enjoy most of the Harry Potter books. And neither of them could put down The Hunger Games (that was a very happy couple of weeks for me!). I'd love to get any suggestions you all have for them. Thanks in advance! Publish Post

  1. How about Lord of the Rings Trilogy + The Hobbit? And Louis L'Amour (haha Tyrell!!!) Michael loved those as well as The Chronicles of Narnia. Also, since they are animal lovers, they would love Life of Pi. (A Bengel tiger is one of the main characters)

  2. If your boys are into sports, try books by Mike Lupica who writes sport themed books. The Percy Jackson series is good as well as the Kane Chronicles and Lost Hero series. The Inheritance series (Eragon) is great. The books are long but full of action. The Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites series is very interesting for boys or girls (even moms). A bonus is it takes characters and events from the Book of Mormon and makes them seem more real and might just get them reading scriptures for fun. The Among the Hidden Series is interesting and not terribly challenging for younger readers. My son loved The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp when he was middle school age. For boys that love the outdoors, try Hatchet or some of Gary Paulson's books. Where the Red Fern Grows and Summer of the Monkeys are also classics. Enders Game is a good book for those boys that like playing war video games. The Cirque Du Freak series was popular a couple years ago;it's about vampires but not the glorified Twilight kind (also a good read boys will like). Fablehaven is also a fun series that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. I really liked the trilogy that begins with Things Not Seen about a boy that wakes up invisible one day. The House of Dark Shadows series is fast paced and action packed. A must for all kids should be the Harry Potter series and for teens I highly recommend The Hunger Games. I could go on and on. I have read all the books I mentioned and enjoyed them all. If you have a son with specific interests or one that likes a certain type of book, send a reply and I will give suggestions.
